Site Tour - Yarra Trams Fleet Operations Centre

The newly opened Fleet Operations Centre controls Yarra Trams’ fleet of 500 trams during day-to-day operations and in a crisis. The Centre integrates feeds from VicRoads traffic control cameras which creates a shared vision of traffic conditions on the tram network. Any incident can be highlighted on the visual display wall so that controllers can monitor the results of their actions. The locations of all trams are pinpointed on a map of the network which is updated in real time. Traffic and transport management for major events such as the Formula One Grand Prix and the Commonwealth Games can be coordinated from a special events room overlooking the Fleet Operations Centre. The room can be used to coordinate major events by Victoria Police, VicRoads and other agencies.
